MAGNATONE 111 STUDENT c1959
Excellent example of a nice little amp: a Magnatone 111 Student amp, dating from 1955-59.This amp is in amazing cosmetic condition and works very well. It really doesn't look its age at all.
It has been fitted with an isolating mains transformer and three-core earthed mains cable for safe operation at 240v: this is reversible, but these vintage amps are potentially lethal in original form. The original design was flawed and output was very low - even for an amp rated at 2-3w - so a couple of minor modifications have been made (reversible) which make it much more useful. There's a pull-switch on the volume control which is an extra gain option for better break-up.
This is an exceptional example of a 50s Magnatone that's been modified to be of real practical use and it makes a lovely amp for practice or recording.
